That should do it. Bombs away.
— Monroe after drilling a hole into Mount Weather's door [src]

Zoe Monroe was a recurring character in the first, second and third seasons. She was portrayed by Katie Stuart and debuted in "His Sister's Keeper". She was killed in the sixth episode of Season Three, "Bitter Harvest".

Monroe was part of the original 100. Because of her crime, Monroe was considered "expendable" and is chosen as one of the 100 Delinquents sent down to Earth to see if it is survivable. Monroe was one of the twenty Gunners in The Camp.

Early Life[]

Sometime while living on the Ark in Factory Station, Monroe was arrested. But because she was under eighteen, she could not be executed and was sent to prison instead. She was sent down with the rest of the Delinquents to Earth to see if it was sustainable for life.

Throughout the Series[]

In His Sister's Keeper, Monroe joins Bellamy's search party to find his sister, Octavia, who went missing the night before. Bellamy and the search party come across several impaled corpses, symbolizing they've reached Grounder territory. Half of the Delinquents head back to The Camp but Monroe continues on with Bellamy and several others.

Finn loses Octavia's trail while they're deep in Grounder territory. Roma asks where John Mbege went just before his body is dropped from the trees above. Jasper and Diggs spot Grounders and Finn tells everyone to run and Monroe takes off running. After they find Diggs and Roma dead, Bellamy figures out the Grounders are leading them into a trap and tells everyone to stop running. Jasper then starts yelling at the Grounders and they move in to attack just as the Acid Fog horn is heard. She hides under the tent with Bellamy, Finn, and Jasper until Bellamy realizes there is no Acid Fog. They then spot a Grounder and follow him back to his cave where Octavia is being kept. Bellamy asks her to watch the entrance to keep any Grounders out.

In Contents Under Pressure, Monroe is watching Raven trying to contact The Ark and asks Raven if she has the right frequency. Clarke orders Monroe to close the door but Monroe states that others are still out there. As she's going to close the drop ship door, Bellamy returns with Miller and Drew carrying an unconscious Grounder. Monroe is then ordered to the second level of the drop ship with the rest of the delinquents.

In Unity Day, Jasper asks Raven to join his team in a game of drunk ball against Monroe because he made a bet with her that his team would beat her team.

In The Calm, Bellamy tells another Delinquent to relieve Monroe of guard duty on the south wall.

In We Are Grounders (Part 2), because Monroe is a Gunner, she is assigned to a foxhole with Miller and Octavia. After Octavia takes off, Bellamy joins them in their foxhole. After shooting at some of the incoming Grounders, Jasper realizes the Grounders are trying to waste their bullets but Monroe has already run out of bullets. When the Grounders start their first stream of attack, she takes off running, while Miller yells out to her and tells her to come back.

In The 48, Bellamy finds her and Sterling hiding in the woods. They tell him that they saw The Ark coming down and allegedly wanted to see if they could bring back help. They spot Tristan with Finn and another Delinquent as prisoners. Tristan stops because the Delinquent can't walk so Tristan kills him, saying 300 of his people died but leaves Finn alive to talk to the Commander. Bellamy then tells Monroe and Sterling that he will distract Tristan while they free Finn and tries to encourage them by reminding them that they are Warriors. Bellamy runs out and confronts Tristan, throwing a spear at him, but Monroe and Sterling hesitate too long and Tristan beats up Bellamy before also taking him captive.

Monroe tells Sterling they are Warriors and they run screaming after Tristan to try and free Bellamy and Finn. As Tristan is coming after them, he is shot from behind by Marcus Kane who comes out of the woods with other Sky People who had also made it down to earth in Mecha Station. Kane tells Sinclair to split up and go to where Alpha Station crashed while Kane and Abigail Griffin go with the Delinquents back to the drop ship where they find Raven and Murphy.

In Inclement Weather, When Finn goes to free Bellamy from the Camp Jaha stockade, Monroe tells them they need to hurry because Sterling signaled someone was coming. Later on, she, Bellamy, Finn, Murphy, and Sterling sneak out of Camp Jaha on their way to find the other missing Delinquents. Abby and David Miller provide them with guns and they all head into the woods in search of their friends.

In Reapercussions, Bellamy, Finn, Sterling, Monroe, and Murphy try to locate the rest of the Delinquents by finding the Grounder compound where Murphy was kept prisoner. At a distance, they look through their rifle scopes for the missing Delinquents but don't spot them. Finn notices one of the Grounders, Delano, is wearing Clarke's watch around his neck. They come up with a plan to lure the Grounder out and capture him for information. When Monroe asks what to do with Murphy, Bellamy announces that Murphy will go with him and Finn to capture Delano. Their plan works and they take Delano to Finn's Bunker so they can question him. Bellamy is trying to keep them from torturing the Grounder since he learned long ago with Lincoln that it does not work. Finn gets worked up that Delano won't tell them where the rest of the Delinquents are and pulls a gun on Delano, threatening to kill him. Bellamy tries to calm Finn down and Finn points the gun at Bellamy, telling him to back off. As Finn cocks the gun, Delano confesses and says that their friends are East of there and he will draw them a map. Monroe gets him some paper to draw the map. Once Delano has drawn a map to where the Delinquents are being allegedly held by the Grounders, Bellamy and Murphy discuss what to do with him while Sterling and Monroe look on uneasily. Murphy wants to kill him but Bellamy says that since Delano is unarmed, it would be an execution. Finn kills him anyway.

In Many Happy Returns, Bellamy, Murphy, Finn, Monroe, and Sterling are following the map created by Delano to get the missing Delinquents back from the Grounders. They come across the massive debris field from Factory Station that crashed into the side of a cliff and there appear to be no survivors. As they are about to leave, they hear a lone survivor, Mel, calling for help from down below. Sterling recognizes her and decides to go after her while Bellamy and Finn argue about whether or not to leave her. The rope Sterling is using comes untied and Sterling plunges to his death, shocking Monroe and Murphy. Finn still wants to leave Mel behind but Monroe protests and Bellamy refuses to leave Mel. Bellamy tells them to find some materials to make a new rope and they make a new one out of seat-belts. Murphy, Finn, and Monroe then help to pull Bellamy and Mel up the cliff face when they suddenly come under attack by Grounders. The rope breaks with Murphy being the only thing stopping Bellamy and Mel from falling to their deaths like Sterling. Monroe starts shooting at the Grounders and is hit in the leg with an arrow. Finn and Murphy continue struggling as they try to pull Bellamy and Mel up. A foghorn is heard, warning of an Acid Fog attack, and the Grounders flee. As they are about to take cover from the incoming Acid Fog, Octavia appears and they realize she had blown Lincoln's horn that saved their lives before. Bellamy helps Mel tie up her injured arm while Octavia bandages Monroe's wounded leg. Because of Monroe's and Mel's injuries, they need to get them back to Camp Jaha. Bellamy allows Finn and Murphy to continue the search for the missing Delinquents and lets them take two guns for protection before they part ways.

In Human Trials, Monroe arrives back at Camp Jaha with Bellamy, Mel, and Octavia. As they enter she is taken to Medical to treat her arrow wound.

In Blood Must Have Blood (Part 1), Monroe listens as Clarke and Lexa discuss their plan to take Mount Weather. She questions Clarke if they've heard from Bellamy. Clarke admits they have not heard from him since the Acid Fog was taken down. When they arrive at Mount Weather's main door, Monroe drills into it in order for Sgt. Miller to place the bomb to blow the power to the door so they can get the door open. When the Grounders are pulling the doors open, Monroe holds an M16 ready to fire.

After Lexa sounds the retreat for the Grounders, Monroe tells Clarke they will come back with re-enforcements and asks her to return to Camp Jaha with them but Clarke remains alone in front of Mount Weather's door.

In Blood Must Have Blood (Part 2), Monroe and Sgt. Miller are captured by the Mountain Men on their way back to Camp Jaha along with Kane and Abby. Emerson brings them into the dorm on Level 5 where the rest of the Delinquents have already been chained up for bone marrow harvesting and Monroe is chained up between Sgt. Miller and Abby. After Clarke irradiates Level 5, she is set free and returns to Camp Jaha the next day with the rest of the Delinquents.

In Wanheda (Part 1), Monroe, along with some other Sky People, are seen watching the fight between Lincoln and Bellamy, which Lincoln wins because Bellamy was being too aggressive. Bellamy and Lincoln then leave the room, leaving Monroe and everyone else to pair up more fights.

In Watch the Thrones, Monroe stands beside Lincoln and Harper to stop Pike, Bellamy and a group of Sky People from leaving Arkadia and go and attack the Grounder army outside the gates. However, after Bellamy tells them to step aside, they both leave.

In Bitter Harvest, Monroe is part of the team whose mission is to wipe out a nearby Grounder village because Pike wants the land to grow food for the people of Arkadia. As they arrive on site, they realize that it is awfully quiet. Having been warned by Octavia, the Grounders actually trapped them, setting out poison into the whole village. Monroe, who was dragged out of the smoke by Monty, and another guard die after inhaling too much of the poison.

In flashbacks in Join or Die, Monroe is brought into a room with other delinquents to be taught Earth skills by Charles Pike, unknowingly that she was going to be sent to the ground. Monroe shows interest when Pike begins to make fire. During the span of two weeks, the delinquents don't retain the information taught by Pike. She is later seen being escorted onto the dropship by the guards.

Personality[]

Monroe is a strong, determined, and caring young woman. She often cares about the other Delinquents, as seen in His Sister's Keeper when she joins Bellamy's search party for his sister and doesn't turn back when the others do. Her extreme loyalty can be considered a strength and a weakness, since her loyalty to her friends gives her the courage to attempt to save Bellamy and Finn, and successfully save Mel. However, her loyalty to Pike and his anti-Grounder movement gets her killed while on one of his missions.

Physical Appearance[]

Monroe has green eyes and red hair that she keeps tied back into three braids. She is fairly short though she is still athletic and is capable of wielding a spear or gun as well as keeping up with the others across long distances.
