I hope Jasper was wrong, and we aren't the problem. I hope your lives there will be as happy as mine has been. Be the good guys. May we meet again.
— Monty to Clarke and Bellamy. [src]

Monty Green was a major character in the first, second, third, fourth and fifth seasons and a guest character in the sixth season. He was portrayed by starring cast member Christopher Larkin, and debuted in the series premiere.

Monty was part of the original 100. He was arrested along with his best friend, Jasper Jordan, for stealing herbs from the Ark garden and sent to juvenile lockup.

While on Earth, Monty struggles with Jasper's new-found heroism and suffers from the distance it puts between them. Despite their struggles as friends, the two always seem to make up. He works on establishing contact with the Ark with the help of Raven. He is the first Delinquent who is captured by Mountain Men.

While inside Mount Weather, he helps Jasper protect the remaining Delinquents by getting familiar with its security and technology to find loopholes. He eventually assists Clarke Griffin and Bellamy Blake in killing all of the surviving residents of Mount Weather by hacking into the system controlling radiation throughout the facility. His actions led to the deaths of many innocents, including Maya, greatly damaging the friendship between him and Jasper. By the end of Season Two, he is alive and at Camp Jaha, but not without the consequence of his actions.

In Season Three, Monty joins the guard unit of Arkadia, to make sure order is maintained. After Charles Pike becomes Arkadia's new Chancellor, Monty sides with him and becomes one of his most trusted allies, due to his mother becoming part of it. He later turns against Pike, after realizing that he's just a power hungry lunatic. Along with Bellamy Blake, he spies on Pike's plans against the Grounders and then they feed the information to Kane who further gives it to Octavia Blake. Monty is even forced to shoot and kill his own mother after she falls under the influence of A.L.I.E. and tries to kill Octavia.

Throughout the course of Season Four, Monty plays an essential role in providing a safe haven from the Second Nuclear Apocalypse. He is a part of the crew that went to space in order to avoid the death wave. During the next six years, he lives on the Ring and develops an algae farm that successfully sustains the rest of Spacekru.

In Season Five, Monty returns back to the ground and tries to convince Wonkru not to fight the Eligius prisoners. He shows how the hydro farm can be restored but Octavia burns it down. After Shallow Valley was bombed, he escapes with the others to Eligius IV. While everyone else goes into cryosleep, he and Harper stay awake and later have a son whom they name Jordan. Monty cracks the Eligius III mission files and sets Eligius IV flight path before dying of old age. His actions saved everyone and will inspire his friends.

Early Life[]

Monty grew up on Agro Station with his best friend, Jasper Jordan. Monty has known Jasper since childhood, with Jasper being in every memory Monty has. At some point, Monty was recruited by engineering and met Kyle Wick.

Monty was arrested alongside Jasper after they were caught stealing herbs when Monty forgot to replace them.[1]

Throughout the Series[]

Pilot 043

Monty and Jasper in Pilot

In Pilot, Monty is strapped onto the Dropship wall, next to Jasper Jordan. On the way down to Earth, Monty and the rest of the 100 learn that they are headed for Mount Weather. When the dropship lands on Earth, Monty and Jasper comment that there is no machine hum. Like the rest of the Delinquents, Monty watches the conflict between Wells Jaha and John Murphy.

Later, Monty and Jasper are pulled away from talking to other Delinquents by Finn Collins into the journey to Mount Weather. Octavia Blake invites herself along. While they are walking Jasper mentions to Monty that Finn has game but Monty quickly proves him wrong when he mentions the flower is poison sumac. Finn asks how they got imprisoned. Jasper and Monty hint they were arrested for making illegal substances by using herbs from Agro Station. Jasper complains that Monty got them arrested and Monty mentions that he's apologized a thousand times. When Jasper upsets Octavia, Monty makes fun of Jasper by telling him upsetting her is not game. Minutes later they see their first animal, a deer. Monty watches in awe until Finn snaps a twig and the deer turns to them shocking the group with its two heads.

When they arrive at a river, Monty watches in shock as Octavia strips. When she jumps into the water he is shown to be fearful because they don't know how to swim, but Octavia stands up revealing that the river is not deep. Monty goes to undress but stops when Jasper notices movement in the water. Monty watches on in shock as Octavia is attacked by the sea serpent and taken under the water. When the group realizes she is still alive, Monty helps save her by pushing a boulder into the river. Later that night, Monty sleeps near Jasper and Octavia.

The next morning they find another way to cross the river. When Jasper lands safely on the other side, Monty and the others cheer. However, moments later, Jasper is pierced in the chest with a spear, leaving Monty and the rest in shock.

In Earth Skills, Monty returns to the other Delinquents along with Clarke, Finn, and Octavia to tell them about Jasper. When Clarke decides to go find Jasper he asks to come but she says no and tells him to figure out the Ark's configuration. Later, while he's working, Octavia is sent in there and they have a talk. Monty says that Jasper was like a brother to him and can't afford to lose him. Monty also helps Octavia take off her wristband off in order to make a radio.

In Earth Kills, while Clarke, Finn, and Wells go search for a seaweed that will help Jasper, Monty and Octavia stay to take care of him. During the night, all the Delinquents are forced to take shelter in the dropship due to acid fog. Many become annoyed with Jasper's pained moans, and Murphy decides to kill him. However, Octavia and Monty stop him by barricading the upper level of the dropship.

In Murphy's Law, Monty is first seen telling Clarke that he will soon be able to fix radio with the help of the wristbands. He stays in the ship for most of the day working on the radio. When he finishes, he calls some of the others in and tells them that they will soon be able to converse with The Ark through Morse code. However, things do not work out as planned, and instead of becoming a radio, it fries all of the wristbands, effectively causing the Ark to believe that all of the Delinquents have died. He is later seen giving Jasper a thumbs up after he kisses Octavia.

In Contents Under Pressure, Monty — along with Jasper — don't make it back to the dropship during the storm and presumably find somewhere to take shelter until it passes.

In Day Trip, Monty and Jasper have survived the storm and are seen together at a table. They are counting the supplies for The Camp and end up discovering the hallucinogenic nuts. Monty questions Jasper when he eats one. Later on, Monty is seen surrounded by the hallucinogenic Delinquents and enters the tent Finn and Raven are in. They tell him to leave since they just slept together, but Monty asks for Raven's help. He is later seen complaining about his head hurting.

In Unity Day, Monty's moonshine is used by the Delinquents in the Unity Day celebration.

In I Am Become Death, His friendship with Jasper becomes strained when Jasper tells Monty that he's not like him anymore, that he's cool, and proceeds to say that Monty is jealous of him. Monty decides to move out of Jasper's tent. He eventually "comes to the rescue" and offers Jasper three extra bullets in order to help his friend make the shot that will blow the bomb on the bridge up.

In The Calm, Monty appears when Raven asks him what he found at the dropship crash site. He shows off a data box he found and the strange jammer-like signal they can hear on it. He then gets into an argument with Raven over whether they would take the radio apart to use for creating walkie-talkies. He doesn't want to because his family is still up on The Ark, but she does it anyway. Later, he joins the search party for Finn, Clarke, and Myles, and when he separates from the group, he continues to keep in contact via the walkie-talkies Raven created, but encounters a disturbance where he's at. Bellamy continues to try to get him to respond, but he's unable to respond. His walkie-talkie lies on the ground where he once stood but Monty is missing.

In We Are Grounders (Part 1), Monty is still missing, and Raven and Jasper mention multiple times that a search group should be concocted to find him, Finn, and Clarke. However, Bellamy shuts them down, until the end when he decides Raven and Jasper were right and they should go out and look for them. But before they get a chance to, Clarke and Finn arrive. Clarke seems surprised Monty is missing, but she tells them they need to flee The Camp.

In We Are Grounders (Part 2), Monty remains missing throughout the entirety of the episode, including the battle with the Grounders. It isn't until the end of the episode after the other delinquents are abducted by Mount Weather, that we learn he's been held in one of the rooms in Quarantine, just across from Clarke. They both attempt to get their doors open when they spot one another, and shout for the other, but to no luck.

In The 48, after Clarke is released from her room, she spots Monty and Jasper at the information session in Mount Weather. Monty is both happy and relieved that Clarke is back, evidenced by the way he runs to her and embraces her. Later in the episode, he is with Jasper, eating cake. He jokes his cake is not as good as Jasper's, so he wouldn't have to share, but offers it to Clarke.

In Reapercussions, Monty approaches Jasper and Maya and asks Jasper if he's seen Clarke, telling him that he hasn't seen her for a full day. Jasper doesn't seem very concerned about this and tells Monty that whatever Clarke is doing, she can handle it.

Later, when Jasper approaches Monty, he is disappointed and tells Jasper that he was hoping he was Clarke. Jasper tells Monty that he'll go ask Maya if she has seen Clarke. Maya tells the two that Clarke was brought to the medical facility for reopening her wounds and says that she isn't to have visitors. Monty says that he'll see about that and walks off.

In Human Trials, Monty is first seen arguing with Jasper about what Dante Wallace told him happened to Clarke. While Monty wants to go after Clarke, Jasper wishes to stay. After Maya walks in, she tries to convince him that Jasper is safer at Mount Weather, which displeases Monty. As they continue talking, an unexpected radiation breach enters their room, hurting Maya by giving her severe radiation burns. When Jasper and Monty go to see Maya is in very critical condition, the doctor recommends a blood transfusion from Jasper. Monty tries to convince to think otherwise, but Jasper goes through the experiment anyways. The doctor recommends Monty to exit the room, but when Monty starts to ask questions about the experiment, he catches the doctor in a lie, causing him to stay longer. After the experiment was a success, he is seen in the same room as Jasper and Maya sleeping in a chair.

In Fog of War, Monty is determined to go after Clarke, but then Maya enters the room and that puts a stop to his plans. Maya starts talking to Monty and Jasper about "pizza day" while holding up a pad of paper saying "Act normal. They're listening" and leads both of them into a storage room. Maya tells them that the breach wasn't an accident and that she's afraid Monty and Jasper are going to be next, while showing them the Harvest Chamber through a small opening in the storage room. She explains that the Mountain Men need the treatments, or else they would die. Monty says that they should die. Monty suggests that the Delinquents can try escaping like Clarke did but Maya warns there is better security so it wouldn't work. Jasper decides that to buy everyone time, they should volunteer to donate their blood to the Mountain Men.

In Long Into an Abyss, Monty, along with the other Delinquents, are inside their dorm, discussing the plan of action they should take. Monty points out that they can't wait around for Clarke to come and rescue them. Jasper agrees with Monty and explains that they all need to be the criminals they are to find out the truth about the Ark citizens. Later, Monty helps a few of his fellow Delinquents break into Dante's office and search it for any clues. They manage to find engineering schematics for Mount Weather as well as pictures of Camp Jaha. Later on, in their dorms, Monty and Miller are discussing the possibility of their parents being on Earth since they were able to see Alpha Station had made it. Jasper interrupts them, stating he hasn't seen Harper since they broke into Dante's office.

In Remember Me, Monty is telling the other Delinquents and Maya that he thinks he found a way to get a signal out of Mount Weather from the design schematics they stole from Dante's office. They then form a plan to access the area Monty needs to get to in order to set up a radio signal. Maya leads Monty and the others to a storage room, where Monty can access his radio signal. The Delinquents hammer a hole into the side of the wall in the storage room — the noise it causes is drowned by an alarm Maya had a friend set off. Later, Monty sets up a looping transmission to get a message to the Ark. Monty hears the jamming signal and realizes that Mount Weather has been jamming them since the Exodus Ship crashed. Monty can't figure out a way to unjam the signal without being at the source. He tells them all he needs is five minutes in the Command Center. Monty and Miller hurry out of the room, while Maya and Jasper stay behind to cover the hole in the wall. Monty figured out a way to get into the Command Center. He is at the Command Center in a hazmat suit for a "routine follow-up" and kicks the guard out. Monty is able to unjam the signal to get their SOS message out, however, as he is leaving, Emerson stops him to fill out the log book. When Monty fills it out wrong, Emerson realizes that Monty isn't who he says he is. Emerson tackles Monty and chokes him. Later, Monty wakes up in a room full of cages. He also happens to be in one of those cages, just below a cage that Harper is in.

In Coup de Grâce, Monty is still trapped in a cage, watching in horror as Dr. Lorelei Tsing prepares to extract Harper's bone marrow. Before she does, Dante Wallace and Jasper barge into the room. Wallace has Tsing arrested and Monty freed. Later, Monty is inside of the dormitory getting ready to leave with the others, when the doors slam shut and lock them inside.

In Rubicon, he is seen among the delinquents who are fighting back to make sure Mount Weather does not take them away for Bone Marrow procedures. Later, Dr. Tsing chooses Monty for the procedure, but Jasper suddenly shoots a guard in his bulletproof vest and the delinquents begin to fight back once more. Ultimately losing to the guards, Jasper is dragged away. However, a radiation leak is exposed, causing the Mount Weather guards to fall down in agony, killing them. Dr. Tsing attempts to escape through an elevator, but Jasper, Harper, Monty and Miller hold the elevator door open and watch as she slowly dies.

In Resurrection, the delinquents have moved to the mess hall, and Monty works on disabling the doors before the others begin to barricade them. The delinquents soon get into their positions when the guards come to get them, and they prepare for a fight. Monty arms himself with one of the guard's guns and then soon the guards bust the doors open and then throw gas grenades into the hall. When the guards take down the barricade a few moments later, they walk in and find the delinquents on the ground, presumably unconscious. It is revealed the grenades were tossed into buckets of water, and they are faking it. Jasper initiates the attack, and the delinquents jump up from their positions and fight back. Monty shoots and kills one of the Mountain Men.

Later, Maya is set up by Cage to be killed if the delinquents don't surrender. Maya and Jasper decide they'll get her out through the trash shoot, but Monty reveals he disabled it. He reassures her he'll fix it, though, but he struggles to get it done when time's almost up and then asks Miller to help him force it open. It is then when a force is heard on the other side and they all jump back, only to find it's Bellamy. It is revealed towards the end of the episode that the delinquents escaped through the trash shoot. Bellamy tells him that they're going to split up, but Monty feels like they should stick together. Bellamy then leads them to acquaintances of Maya's father that also don't agree with Cage's methods. Vincent motions for them to come, and tells them that they are going to be divided along the way. Monty and Jasper hope to join Bellamy, but he says no as he needs to continue laying low. But Bellamy tells them to prepare for battle.

In Bodyguard of Lies, Vincent mentions Monty, Jasper, and Maya were moved into another room as the Mount Weather guards are searching rooms for the missing delinquents. This episode also reveals Monty to be a friend of Wick's.

In Blood Must Have Blood (Part 1), Jasper, Bellamy, and Maya find Monty when they want to get the rest of the 44. When they arrive Monty knees beside Ms.Ryan who helped the Delinquents and got killed. He tells them they took the rest of the 44, while he hid and that the Mountain Men know about the Grounders and that they know that the other Delinquents are in the Harvest Chamber. Bellamy, Jasper, and Maya want to leave immediately to get them out, and Jasper drags Monty with him. Later, when they arrive only to find out that the Grounders are gone and Maya's father is dead, Monty stands and watches as Jasper tries to comfort Maya.

In Blood Must Have Blood (Part 2), Monty, Jasper, and Bellamy open the door to Mount Weather for Octavia and Clarke. When Octavia sees them, she gives them a hug. Monty, Bellamy, and Clarke go to Dante's room to ask him for help. When they arrive and find out that Dante isn't on their side anymore, he is asked if he can get them into the Command Center. He says yes, and they leave. Later on, Monty watches in shock as Clarke takes out her gun and kills Dante with it. He then helps Clarke and Bellamy irradiate Level 5, which leads to the death of the Residents and Maya. When Monty, Bellamy, and Clarke arrive on Level 5 and see Jasper holding Maya, who has died from radiation poisoning, Jasper asks Monty why he helped them. Monty tells him he is sorry, but Jasper is still too shocked about Maya's death and can't understand why Monty did what he did. Monty goes into the dorm, where the Delinquents and Sky People are. When he sees Harper, he runs to her and gives her a hug. Later, when everyone is back in Camp Jaha, he gives Clarke a hug, looks at Bellamy, and then goes in with the others.

In Wanheda (Part 1), at Arkadia, Bellamy searches out Monty for the mapping run. Jasper is passed out drunk under a table and Bellamy wants to leave him but Monty convinces him to bring Jasper because Jasper needs it after Maya's death. Bellamy leaves Jasper with Monty and goes over to see Gina, his girlfriend who just came back from a supply run from Mount Weather. They kiss and Gina gives him a book she brought back, The Iliad since she knew his mom used to read it to him.

Bellamy walks over to the rover they will be using on their mapping mission and Raven slides out from underneath it. Miller shows up and Bellamy tosses him a gun. Monty walks over to Jasper and throws a bucket of water in his face to wake him up. Jasper grabs Monty and shoves him against the side of the rover. Bellamy jumps in and tells Jasper he doesn't get a gun until he is sober. Jasper says he doesn't want one and disrespectfully slaps Bellamy upside the head before getting into the vehicle. Bellamy kisses Gina goodbye and climbs in with everyone else, with Raven driving. As they are driving out, Octavia Blake shows up on horseback and tells them to try to keep up. They leave through the gates of Arkadia and head out on their mapping mission.

While driving along, Jasper is listening to music on headphones and Monty makes Jasper share the music with everyone. Jasper starts singing along with the song (Add It Up by the Violent Femmes) and soon Raven and Miller join in. Their sing-a-long is interrupted by the sound of a tracking beacon from Farm Station going off after four months. They stop and Octavia rides up on her horse, asking why they stopped. Monty says the signal is coming from Sector 8, which is Ice Nation. Since Monty and Miller's boyfriend are both from Farm Station, Bellamy says Monty and Miller get to decide whether or not they go into Ice Nation territory and they both agree.

In Sector 7, they reach the border to Sector 8 and Ice Nation territory. Octavia tells them the Ice Nation stretches for thousands of miles and the ice is farther to the north. Bellamy reminds them to use non-lethal force as the beacon signal draws nearer to them. Three Ice Nation warriors break through the tree line on horses, identified by their white war paint. Octavia tells them they are Skaikru looking for their people. The Ice Nation warrior asks if they're looking for Wanheda.

One of the warriors is wearing the Farm Station beacon that was transmitting the signal. Jasper staggers his way forward as Octavia tells the warriors that they observe the Commander's alliance. Jasper grabs the beacon as Octavia tries to diffuse the situation. The warrior takes Jasper hostage and puts a knife to his throat, asking where Wanheda is and Octavia says she doesn't know who that is but they can help each other. Jasper is laughing and the warrior starts to slit his throat. Bellamy shoots him in the arm while Raven and Miller kill the other two warriors. The wounded warrior rises up to kill Jasper and Octavia throws her sword at him, killing him.

Kane comes in over the radio, asking for Bellamy to come to Sector 4. Raven, Jasper, and Miller take the Ice Nation horses and go with Octavia back to Arkadia while Monty and Bellamy take the rover and head to Sector 4. Once Bellamy and Monty arrive at Sector 4, they walk to meet Kane. Monty tells Bellamy that Jasper is damaged and getting worse. They encounter Kane and Indra. Indra has come to warn them that Clarke is being hunted by everyone.

Indra and Kane are riding in the back of the rover with Monty driving and Bellamy in the front seat. Indra looks nervous and Kane tells her he is still getting used to the vehicle himself. Monty asks if Kane is sure he doesn’t want to notify the Chancellor and Bellamy comments on the kill order on Clarke. Indra clarifies that it is a bounty and that Clarke is a symbol known as Wanheda, the Commander of Death. The Grounders believe that when they kill someone, they get their power. Killing Wanheda means they will command death. Clarke's actions at Mount Weather weakened Lexa's power and now the Ice Nation Queen wants Clarke's power. If her people believe she has Clarke's power, then she will be able to break the Coalition and start a war, which Indra cannot allow to happen. They drive into Sector 7 and Indra tells them to start at the trading posts in order to find Clarke.

Monty is still driving Bellamy, Kane, and Indra in the rover to Sector 7. Kane offers Indra a gun and she shakes her head at him. Monty slams on the breaks when the rover's path is blocked by a felled tree. Indra tells them it was cut down but Bellamy doesn't believe her until another tree falls behind their rover, effectively trapping them.

In Wanheda (Part 2), Bellamy, Monty, Indra, and Kane have been trapped in Sector 7 in the rover for three hours waiting for something to happen. Bellamy pokes his head out the moon roof and suddenly has a knife to his throat. The rest of them are ordered out of the rover as Bellamy is yanked out through the moon-roof. Indra, Kane, and Monty are quickly taken hostage by what appear to be Ice Nation warriors who find the Farm Station beacon on Monty. Monty tries to fight them and Bellamy calls out his name to get him to stop. One of the warriors repeats Monty's name and Monty recognizes her voice as his mother's. Monty's mother, Hannah, removes her face mask and she and Monty embrace. Pike orders the rest of them to stand down and greets Kane and Bellamy. Monty asks where his dad is and Hannah tells him that he didn't make it. They go to move the trees blocking the rover and Bellamy asks Monty if he is okay. Monty replies that he has to be. They get the trees out of the way of the rover and Kane sends the Farm Station warriors to collect the rest of their people and head to Arkadia. Pike and Hannah go with Kane, Bellamy, and Monty after Clarke.

At the trading post, Niylah is getting beaten up and interrogated by Roan's bounty hunter partner as he asks her where Roan and Clarke went. He is about to cut off her hand when Bellamy shoots him dead. Indra tells Niylah in Trigedasleng they are there to help. Pike demands she speak in English and Kane orders him to scout the perimeters with Monty and Hannah. Monty eventually returns to tell them he found their tracks but they can't take the rover because there are too many trees.

Later, Monty and Hannah are walking through the same field where Roan and Clarke were previously. Monty asks Hannah what happened to his father and she tells him that all his father wanted to do was find Monty and that he loved him. Indra calls for everyone to be quiet as they hear war drums coming from a distance. Indra recognizes them as Azgeda by the three dead scouts in the field. Pike tells everyone they need to get the bodies off the field before the army arrives or they will be blamed for it. Bellamy spots Roan and Clarke far on the other side of the field as Kane spots the incoming army advancing from another end of the field, separating them from Clarke. Monty points out a cave for them to hide in until the army passes through and Indra leaves to warn the Commander because the Ice Nation has just marched into Trikru lands. Bellamy wants to go after Clarke but they are stuck in the cave with the corpses of the three Ice Nation scouts as they wait for the army to clear out. Monty asks Hannah what happened to his father. Hannah tells him how Farm Station landed in snow, absorbing some of the impact. She starts crying and Pike takes over the story, telling Monty that the children were playing in the snow and were the first to die. Fifteen kids died, but Monty's father was able to save four. He was killed when he went back for a fifth child, and he died a hero. Kane tells Pike that not all Grounders are the same as the Ice Nation and Pike says they are to him.

Later, as they are waiting in the cave and Monty finishes telling them how forty-two people got out of Mount Weather alive and they did what they had to do. Pike tells Monty he did the right thing and asks if Mount Weather belongs to the Sky People now. Kane tells him they use it for supplies because of the established truce. Pike warns Kane the Grounders will break the truce and they need the Mountain. Monty notices that Bellamy had stolen a scout's uniform and was no longer in the cave. They go after Bellamy and Monty finds him still trying to follow after Clarke and Roan. Kane and Pike try to get Bellamy to give up but he is worried about losing Clarke. Monty convinces Bellamy to head back and try again later.

In Watch the Thrones, Monty sees Jasper sneaking out of Arkadia after he refuses to attend the Mount Weather Memorial. Jasper tells Monty he should go to his memorial but instead, Monty follows him. They arrive at the dropship and Monty asks why they are there. Jasper simply remarks that they are visiting old friends before chugging some alcohol. He walks away for a moment and Monty digs through his bag and shocked to find the canister containing Finn's ashes. Monty tries to ask Jasper if this is what he thinks it is but finds Jasper is passed out drunk. When a drunken Jasper awakens, he angrily asks Monty how he could kill Maya and just be fine. Monty tells Jasper he's not fine and he's sick of serving as [Jasper's] punching bag. He tells Jasper he can either shape up or fall apart alone. Monty then leaves the dropship.

In Bitter Harvest, Monty is serving as a member of Pike's regime alongside Bellamy, Monroe, and his mother. Pike informs them they will be attacking a nearby grounder village since they need the soil in order to grow crops. Pike tells them he doesn't expect resistance but Monty corrects him saying the grounders will resist. Monty is later seen getting onto the rover following his mother and Bellamy. When they arrive at the village, Monty, Monroe, and a few guards enter the village. They realize the village is quite to which Monroe suggests maybe the grounders are already gone. Suddenly, a flaming arrow hits a stack of logs covered in poisonous sap starting a fire. The fire creates toxic smoke and prompts everyone to hurry out of the village. Monty, however, goes after Monroe who is desperately calling out for his help. Hannah screams after Monty as Monty drags a coughing Monroe out of the smoke. He lays Monroe downs and watches her die of the smoke inhalation.

In Terms and Conditions, Monty is attending a council meeting when Pike informs him of the idea of camp-wide surveillance. Monty is at first opposed to this but Pike convinces him otherwise and he goes off with his mother to set up a system. Monty is later seen spying on Kane and Sinclair and he alerts Bellamy that Sinclair is up to something. After Sinclair is arrested, Monty's mother approaches him and tells him he did the right thing, though Monty questions whether it was really the right thing at all.

Monty then is seen listening in on the bug Bryan placed in Miller when he alerts Bellamy that the riot is a distraction and Kane is heading with Pike towards the Arkadia gate. Thanks to this information, Bellamy is able to stop Kane and arrest him. At the end of the episode, following Kane's sentence, Bellamy and Monty stand outside the council room when approaches by Hannah. She asks them if they know who else was helping Kane but they give no answer. She then says that doing the right thing isn't hard to which Bellamy says, "I do it every day."

In Stealing Fire, Monty and Bellamy meet with Miller and Harper desperate to try and get on their side and help them formulate an escape plan for Lincoln, Sinclair and, Kane. However, Harper and Miller reject them. Monty turns to Harper and asks her if she still doesn't trust him after everything they've been through but Harper merely sasses him in response. Monty is later seen monitoring the radio with his mother when Harper reports that the "package is on the move." Hannah immediately identifies it as the prisoners and asks Monty who's voice was over the radio but he gives no response. Suddenly, they receive a radio response from Octavia who says she is ready to intercept. Hannah radios Pike who asks if they know where Octavia is but Monty shakes his head.

As the prison escape is being carried out, Harper radios the resistance saying that the guards are too close. Monty who is listening in creates a distraction for the guards, calling them to the main gate. Hannah asks him what he's doing to which Monty says he's saving his friends. Pike then arrives and asks how many men are at the main gate but Hannah informs him it was a false report but doesn't reveal that Monty aided the prison escape.

In Fallen, Monty is sitting in the mess hall when he is approached by his mother. She informs him that Pike knows that he helped the prisoners escape and he needs to leave now. Monty reaches out to say goodbye to his mom but she tells him that it can't look like they're saying goodbye. Monty then gets up and leaves. Monty then radios Bellamy and Kane responds telling him to meet at the dropship.

When Kane, Octavia, and Bellamy arrive at the dropship, they find Pike was a gun to Monty's head. Monty apologizes saying he was followed. After some commotion, the resistance eventually surrenders and Monty, Octavia, and Kane are tied up. Bellamy then tricks Pike and leads him and the resistance to the blockade. Once the grounders have taken Pike captive and Kane agrees to go with them, Kane tells Monty and Octavia to go back to Arkadia. After the grounders' and Kane's departure Monty turns to Bellamy with the realization that his mother turned him into Pike. Bellamy reassures him that they'll work it out.

In Nevermore, Monty and Octavia go to the dropship in order to get an electromagnet so they can build an EMP to remove the chip from Raven. Upon arriving at the dropship, Monty confronts Octavia about her leaving. Octavia says she's nothing but Monty reminds her she's one of the 100. Octavia tells him not anymore before walking off.

After Monty has gotten the electromagnet he exits the dropship and looks for Octavia only to find she's gone. He hears someone in the distance and identifies that it is his mother, Hannah. She expresses concern over him and Monty confronts her about turning him in. Hannah denies this because she chipped and cannot remember doing it. Monty soon comes to the realization that his mother is chipped and she begins hitting him. Monty begs her to stop which she agrees to do after he takes the chip. Octavia then comes to aid Monty and has the upper hand over Hannah until she is knocked down and Monty's mother puts a knife to her throat. Monty retrieves a gun and shoots his mother non-fatally in order to save Octavia. However, since there is no pain in the City of Light, Hannah does not feel it and continues attacking Octavia. Monty is then forced to kill his mother in order to save Octavia.

Monty and Octavia then drive back to Niylah's trading post while Octavia tries to reassure Monty who insists that it was not his mother who he killed. After successfully unchipping Raven, Monty laments that he could have saved his mom. Jasper puts a comforting hand on his shoulder but Monty pushes him away.

In Heavy Lies the Crown, in Arkadia, Clarke, Bellamy, Raven, and Monty try to find a way to ride out the radiation and are debating whether the masses should be told. Suddenly, Monty realizes that they can survive inside Alpha Station as long as they patch up the ship. The next day, Bellamy explains the plan to Miller and Bryan and tells them they need to go to Farm Station to fetch a hydro generator. At the same time, Monty approaches Jasper who is showering and tries to convince him to accompany them on the mission. Jasper refuses and says that he'd rather no longer keep Clarke's secrets. He then asks Monty to fetch the stash of weed they hid behind [Monty's] bedroom door and Monty agrees Monty, Harper, Bellamy, Miller, and Bryan leave Arkadia while Raven and Clarke stay behind to patch up the ship. They arrive in the Ice Nation and find that Farm Station is inhabited by members of the Ice Nation. Suddenly, Ice Nation members surround them and take them to the station to meet the chief. Bellamy tells them they're just they're for the hydro generator at the request of King Roan. The Ice Nation members agree to let them take the machine. The crew goes to get the machine, but notice many people, including Riley, serving as slaves. The Ice Nation members tell them the deal was the take only the machine and the rest will remain theirs. Bellamy, Monty, Harper, Miller, and Bryan are debating whether they should save the slaves or take the hydro generator. Bryan and Harper want to free to slaves while Miller and Monty want to take the machine. The final decision is Bellamy's and he decides to use the machine to free the slaves. They take the machine, rigging it as a bomb and free the slaves. Many of Azgeda die in the explosion, but Bryan stops Miller from killing Tybe, their leader. Bryan states that's it's Monty's kill and reveals that Tybe was the man who murdered Monty's father. Monty stands over Tybe with the chief's axe, apparently about to kill him, before suddenly releasing the prisoners instead who beat Tybe to death.

They arrive back in Arkadia to be met with by Clarke and Raven. Bellamy confesses they didn't get the machine and rather used it to save the slaves. This reduces the number of people who can survive inside of Alpha Station to only one hundred.

The-100-season-4-episode-4-Monty

Monty informs everyone that Alpha Station can only save 100 people

In A Lie Guarded, In Arkadia Monty looks at Clarke and approaches her. He asks her about the look on her face since it reads, "everyone is going to die." Clarke explains that she feel useless, and Monty says that she's not a geneticist. He feels confident that her mom can find a radiation cure. Suddenly a cloud approaches and everyone fears that it's "black rain." Everyone in Arkadia evacuates into Alpha Station while Jasper is seen walking and says, "You can't live your life in fear." He swallows some of the rain and begins to choke. However, he starts to joke that the "sky is falling." He then says that everyone doesn't have a sense of humor. later that day Monty and Jasper sneak into the chancellor's quarters looking for something. Jasper then discovers Clarke's list of 100 designated survivors. Monty wants them to leave, and Jasper questions him about it. Monty tells him that Alpha Station can only save 100 people, and he assures Jasper that Clarke has a plan. Jasper clearly doesn't like it and even calls out the fact that Monty isn't on the list. Suddenly, Clarke walks in and Jasper approaches her about the list. She explains that the list is a backup before security comes in. During the commotion, Clarke tasers Jasper and orders the guards to take Jasper away as she is acting in the place of Chancellor Kane. Once they take Jasper away, she attempts to explain herself to Monty, but he's hearing none of it. Clarke begins to explain to Monty why he's not on the list. He questions her about who she's become and how she can lock up one of her friends. Monty feels that she's going too far, but she feels that it's all for the sake of her people. He feels that she should tell the truth to everyone, but she feels that it's too risky. Monty ends the conversation by telling her that she's not God. He suddenly gets on the loud speaker and tells everyone that Clarke's been lying. Monty informs everyone that Alpha Station can only save 100 people, then starts reading off all of the names on the list while everyone in Arkadia starts to surround her in disbelief.

In The Tinder Box, After Octavia warns Skaikru that Azgeda are going to attack. The Arkadia's army are planning how to defend themselves against this oncoming attack. They know that it's Ice Nation approaching and Clarke decides that she needs to talk to Roan to find out what's going on. She feels that there's some sort of misunderstanding. Some of them disagree, but Monty says that they have the element of surprise. Therefore, it's a good idea and they proceed with the plan. At the standoff between Ice Nation and Arkadia Echo informs Roan about a few laser sights on his chest. Arkadia has them surrounded with snipers and it causes him to pause.Roan walks up to Clarke while Riley is still targeting Roan. His sight is squarely on the head of Roan and he feels they should take him out. He starts to debate with Monty about how he has a clear shot. However, Monty encourages him to stand down before he does something incredibly stupid. Monty has Echo in his sniper sight. Suddenly, they notice that Riley has taken off somewhere and he left his radio where he was posted. Monty realizes that Riley's only goal is to kill King Roan, but he needs to stop it. He leaves his position next to Harper and goes to warn Echo about it. Monty wants to speak with Echo and informs her that Riley is trying to kill the king. Echo decides to go off to find him, but that will lead to certain death.

In We Will Rise, When everyone are in shock over Alpha Station's destruction in Arkadia. Monty tells everyone how bad the current damage is. The only good news about Alpha Station's destruction is that no one died. However, they'll need to deliver hydrazine to Raven and Abby. Roan offers his security detail as protection for their journey since it will be a perilous one. Outside in the courtyard of Arkadia, Monty gives another warning of how much hydrazine they're carrying. He reiterates the fact if anything goes wrong, then the fate of humanity will go up in flames just like the truck with the rocket fuel will. Everyone understands and they embark on their mission. later that day at Arkadia, someone is protesting about Ilian and why they're protecting him. He wants him to pay for his alleged hate crime. Monty approaches Jaha and asks him how he's coping with it. Jaha claims it will blow over, but Monty feels he should speak up. He even brings up Jaha's dead son and says that he would be ashamed of him. The man continues to protest as Jaha listens and drinks.

God Complex pic 16 (Indra, Kane, Monty, Gaia and Jaha)

Indra takes Kane, Monty and Jaha to meet Gaia

In God Complex, At Arkadia, Jaha gathers everyone for the funeral of the eighteen that died in the black rain. During the funeral, Jaha overhears Niylah repeating the phrase "From the ashes, we will rise," as a prayer. He recalls that phrase from Second Dawn that has made its way into Grounder mythology. Second Dawn and Becca's scientific breakthroughs are linked. Jaha convinces Kane to take him to Indra so they can speak to her daughter Gaia, the current Flamekeeper. In Polis, Jaha, Monty and Kane arrive to find Indra already there waiting for them. Kane walks towards her and she punches him in the face. She explains that her hostility towards him and the sky people is because they made an alliance with her enemy, Azgeda. Kane later explains that he came to speak to her daughter Gaia. She takes them to her. Gaia explains that the Second Dawn symbol is the holy symbol of their order. It adorns the crypt of the first commander, Becca. The crypt is in the temple. But there is one complication, it's controlled by Azgeda. Kane tells Indra that they have the royal seal and that there'll be no need for a fight. They are soon stopped by Azgeda. Kane tells them that they seek safe passage to the temple and shows them the royal seal. They allow them to pass. However, this does not convince Indra. At the first chance she gets, she guns them down. Kane is furious, but Indra explains that if there is a bunker inside the temple, Azgeda will never see the inside. She continues ahead, as Jaha urges Kane forward telling him that the war isn't theirs to fight. They enter the temple. Gaia tells them that it's beneath the altar. Jaha digs around and finds the entrance, however, there is one problem. The key won't open the entrance. Kane, Jaha, Monty, Indra, and Gaia are about to give up, when Monty has a thought. He ponders for a moment and asks them that what if the phrase "From the ashes, we shall rise" is not a motto, but an instruction? Upon realizing this, Jaha puts the key in the flame, and it burns into a smaller key with the number twelve etched on it. Jaha tries to place it in the keyholder and turns it. It opens up and they enter the bunker.

The 100 4x11 - Monty & Harper pic 9

Monty and Harper

In DNR, at Arkadia, Jaha tells everyone about the discovery of Second Dawn Bunker. He tells them to pack their things since they will embark for the bunker at first light. Bellamy approaches Monty and tells him that there's hope after all. Afterward, Jasper drinks as he begins speaking to other patrons around him. He scoffs at the notion of going to the bunker since they don't really need to listen to Jaha. later that day, Harper lies down in bed looking despondent. She tells Monty that she's sick of fighting. Monty assures her that inside the bunker they will be safe. However, Harper is not confident even when Monty tries to convince her to change her mind. He then brings up how she blames herself for Louis' death and how she did it to live. However, now he feels she's a coward because she just wants to let the radiation overtake her. Harper then walks over to the bar area and takes a drink from Jasper. Back at Arkadia, Bellamy finds out about Jasper's refusal to leave and wants to talk to him. Jasper then shows his hand to them and it says "DNR" on it. Additionally, he is locked inside the bar with everyone else that refuses to leave. Jaha then commands to put a timed explosive on the door, but it doesn't scare Jasper. He simply decides to turn up the music. Bellamy then tells Jaha that they want to stay and that they have a choice to do so. Jaha reluctantly agrees and tells everyone to stand down. He then commands everyone to move out. Monty doesn't agree with Jaha's decision, but Jaha agrees with Bellamy. He feels there's no point in saving people that don't want to be saved. Jaha and Bellamy are leading their people on the journey to the Second Dawn bunker. Bellamy approaches Jasper and Harper to tell them that it's not too late to change their minds. They ultimately decide to stay and Bellamy hugs them goodbye. Harper gets back to the bar and surprisingly sees Monty. He tells them that he hasn't changed his mind. He's actually there in case they do. The scene finishes with him kissing Harper and telling her he loves her.

The-100-season-4-episode-11-Jasper-Monty

Monty with Jasper in his final moments

In The Other Side, In Arkadia, Monty is walking around in a hazmat suit and warning everyone to leave for the bunker. Harper is getting sick and so are others as they continue to party. Suddenly, Riley falls to the ground and passes out. Monty tries to save him but Jasper stops him saying that this is what Riley wanted. Monty is upset and decides he's leaving for the bunker tonight. Monty leaves and Jasper notes that Riley did not suffer. He realizes that they all can die peacefully in the same fashion as Riley. Monty is trying to convince Harper to leave with him for the bunker. However, Harper is very resistant and insists on staying. Monty then encourages her by saying that she's a fighter and should not give up. He then says that he loves her, but she tells him she doesn't love him. She elaborates by saying that she doesn't love him enough to live for him and she is not worth dying for. She then leaves and cries to herself. Monty approaches Jasper and tries to get him to leave. However, Jasper is staring in amazement at how red the sky is. Monty then realizes Jasper has overdosed after drinking too much of a hallucinogen. Jasper then sits down and wants Monty to not worry about him. Monty attempts to get Jasper to vomit up the drugs, but it doesn't work. Jasper begins to fade out of consciousness while Monty watches helplessly. Monty then tells Jasper that he loves him as Jasper dies in his arms.

Monty wants to find Harper before he leaves. He runs into the hangar bay where everyone is dead. Harper, dressed in a hazmat suit, calls out to Monty and they embrace. She then says that she loves him and they leave.

In The Chosen, On their way to save Raven to Becca's Lab, Bellamy tries to contact Monty. He gets in contact with him and asks for him to help them get to Becca's lab. Monty obviously obliges and Harper tells him that they should save their friends. Monty and Harper show up and they start loading everyone into his rover. Suddenly, Clarke begins coughing up a little blood. However, Monty insists that she wears the suit that he had for Jasper. Clarke then tells everyone that Nightblood doesn't work, but there may be another way to save humanity. Back at Becca's lab, Raven is staring at a screen. Monty, Bellamy, Clarke, Murphy, Emori, Harper and Echo then arrive. They then mention that they need to go out to space and live on the Go-Sci Ring. Therefore, they ask if Raven can get them into space before the death wave hits. She stares at the spaceship and says that the death wave can kiss her ass. Clarke then concludes the scene by saying that they're going back to the Ark.

Praimfaya - 6

Monty and Murphy carry the oxygenator to Becca's Lab

In Praimfaya, at Becca's lab, Bellamy, Clarke, Raven, Monty, Harper, Murphy, Emori, and Echo watch the radiation destroy Polis through their last drone feed. Raven then begins calculations in her head and realizes that she'll need to manually dock the ship in the hangar bay. She also tells everyone that they need to be off the ground at least 20 minutes before the death wave hits. Though the situation seems grim, Bellamy offers some optimism. Moments later, Raven Presses a button and a timer is set for 90 minutes - the time left until the death wave reaches them. Murphy and Monty discuss Jasper's death as they search for the oxygenator. Murphy makes a snide remark about Jasper taking and cowards way out and an enraged Monty grabs him. Murphy tells him to be careful about ripping his suit. Then Monty tells Murphy the only thing he cares about is surviving. However, their quarreling comes to an end when they find a large panel at Becca's bunker with the scrubber. In order for them to get it out in one piece, Monty decides to take off his gloves to dislodge it. The moment his hands are exposed to radiation, his hands quickly start to burn as he screams in agony. Monty and Murphy are carrying the oxygenator. Monty's hands are badly burnt by the radiation and Murphy helps him get his gloves on. They start to carry the machine and Murphy tries to distract him from the pain by asking him about Harper. Suddenly, Monty passes out and Murphy says that he's sorry. He then proceeds to drag the oxygenator back to Becca's lab by himself leaving Monty behind. Outside Becca's lab, Raven instructs Bellamy and Clarke while pointing toward a tower. She gives a circuit to Clarke and gives instructions on how to transmit the signal to turn the power on in the Ark. Murphy appears with the oxygenator, struggling to carry it, as a concerned Bellamy approaches him. Bellamy is forced to go and get an unconscious Monty, leaving Clarke to plug in the circuit board herself. Monty wakes up and realizes that there are only 14 minutes left to return to the lab. Murphy and Bellamy then arrive to save him. Murphy tells him that he got the oxygenator over to the lab. This leads to Monty embracing Murphy, telling him that he may not hate him anymore. Back at Becca's lab, Bellamy and Murphy are carrying Monty in. Harper hugs him. Monty and Spacekru get onto the Ark, but Raven is low on oxygen. Murphy and Emori decide to share theirs along with everyone else. Meanwhile, Monty instructs Bellamy to connect the oxygen scrubber to the conduits on the Ark. Suddenly, Monty passes out, then so do Emori and Murphy. Bellamy hits a switch and everyone passes out. A second later, the oxygen vents turn on and everyone begins to revive.

Spacekru - Eden

Monty and Spacekru in The Ark

In Eden, while Spacekru were surviving on the Ark. Some things have changed while others have stayed the same. Monty and Harper are still together.

Monty, Raven, Echo, Harper, Emori, and Bellamy are having a meal. Murphy, however, doesn't eat with them. He has claimed his own area of the Ark and is antagonistic to the rest of the group. The group tries to contact those on Earth, but Raven points out that the atmospheric radiation prevents radio contact. A couple hours later, they see a dropship heading to the ground It is heading to the green spot on the planet that the Ark survivors have named "Eden". The group decides they need to get to the mothership and start preparing to leave the Ark.

In Sleeping Giants, in the Ark need enough fuel in order to get to the ground. So, they come up with a plan to take the fuel from the Eligius IV mining ship. After landing on the giant ship, they are surprised to find no one in the ship. They find alarms going off but they manage to turn them off. They figure out that the prisoners were on the ship but assume that the prisoners are no longer there. Raven hacks into the ship's database in order to locate the fuel they need. She also starts going through the captain logs in an attempt to figure out what happened to the prisoners.

Just when they've got enough fuel and are ready to leave, they discover a cryogenic chamber with 284 frozen prisoners. One of the prisoners wakes up and attacks them, but gets killed by Bellamy and Echo. After the attack, they get their way back to the ground, On landing on the ground, the group immediately comes face to face with the prisoners who have been ordered to shoot-to-kill. In a surprise twist, Madi appears from the bushes and kills two prisoners in an instant. Madi tells them that they need to hurry because Clarke is in trouble.

Later in the season, Monty tries to convince Wonkru not to fight the Eligius prisoners. He shows how the hydro farm can be restored but Octavia burns it down.

In Damocles (Part 2), after Shallow Valley was bombed, he escapes with the others to Eligius IV. While everyone else goes into cryosleep, he and Harper stay awake. Two and a half years later, they have a son whom they name Jordan Jasper Green after Monty's best friend, Jasper Jordan. They initially planned to wait ten years for Earth to become habitable again, but after the time has passed, Earth remained barren. Monty begins to work on a Plan B and tries to crack the Eligius III mission files. When Jordan is 26 years old, Monty and Harper decide to put him into cryosleep. Harper dies on February 8, 2206, leaving Monty living alone. He finally cracks the Eligius III files and sets Eligius IV to travel to the new habitable world. Monty dies of old age before Eligius IV reaches the new world 75 years later.

In Sanctum, Clarke and Bellamy play Monty's message for their friends who are left reeling from the news, particularly Monty's death. Bellamy later explains that Eligius III was a colonizing mission that went to five different worlds. Monty sent Eligius IV to Alpha because its the closest to Earth and probably the most like it.

In Nevermind, after Clarke accepts defeat in her Mindspace and gives Josephine Lightbourne the memory she needs to get rid of Clarke, she is confronted by a manifestation of Monty. Monty demands to know if she calls her actions "doing better", telling Clarke that giving up isn't doing better. Monty brushes off Clarke's excuses as things he's heard before and Clarke reminds her old friend that he'd been the one to tell her that she's not God and can't decide who lives or dies and states that he got his wish as she's not deciding for anyone else, just for herself. Monty expresses sympathy for Clarke's struggles, but attempts to change her mind by reminding her of Madi. Though Bellamy has already made a deal with the Primes, Monty points out that the deal means their side gets to live, but at a cost since they are giving into people who murder human beings to live forever. Clarke insists that they have to do what's best for their people, but Monty counters that the ends never justify the means. However, Clarke feels that it's too late as Josephine already has the memory and will know how to get rid of Clarke as soon as she wakes up.

Refusing to give up, Monty leads Clarke into Josephine's Mindspace which takes the form of a library of books, the books representing Josephine's memories. The two begin searching for something they can use to retake control of Clarke's body, knowing they have limited time as Josephine seems to sense Clarke's presence in her Mindspace. After noticing that all of the books/memories are in chronological order, Monty comments that he likes Clarke's drawings better. Monty finally spots a locked room marked Special Collections and realizes that it must be where Josephine keeps all of her primal wounds, something that Josephine stated creates a physical response. As they could control Clarke's body from there, Monty begins picking the lock while Clarke goes through the last two memories of Josephine in her previous body to learn more about her. After seeing just how far Josephine is willing to go, Clarke admits that Monty is right and they can't let her win.

Monty is able to open the door to the Special Collections where they witness the traumatizing memory of Josephine's ex-boyfriend Dave committing suicide right in front of her in a diner on Earth. As Clarke comes up with an idea of how to use the memory to retake control of her body, alarms go off signaling the approach of Josephine and she quickly orders Monty to hide before being assaulted by Josephine who wakes up moments later. After Josephine wakes up, Clarke composes a Morse code message that she is alive with Monty's help and transmits it using the diner's Christmas lights. In the real world, Bellamy notices Josephine tap out the message on her arm and successfully receives Clarke and Monty's message that she is still alive.

In Ashes to Ashes, Clarke comes up with a less violent way to deal with the Primes and the Sanctum citizens that involves posing as Josephine to infiltrate Sanctum. When Bellamy protests due to the dangers to Clarke, she reminds him of Monty's desire for them to do better and be the good guys. When Clarke prepares to leave with Jade, Bellamy agrees to follow her plan "for Monty" which Clarke echoes.

In False Gods, when Jordan plans to ask his friends to stop the execution of Russell Lightbourne, in reality Sheidheda controlling his body, Jordan states that he will be asking as his father's son.

In Hesperides, while planting in the garden, Echo comments that the powdered jellyfish is better than Monty's algae. Looking at the sky, Echo offers an apology to her dead friend.

In A Little Sacrifice, Jordan realizes that the Bardoan language is structured like Korean and explains that he learned it from Monty whose father was Korean and taught Monty what little he knew of the language. The knowledge imparted by Monty to his son helps Jordan come up with another translation, suggesting a test to determine the fate of the human race rather than a war.

In A Sort of Homecoming, after recovering her hidden stash of alcohol in the Second Dawn Bunker, Niylah tells Jordan that its Monty's recipe.

In The Last War, after coming up with a way to disable the Disciples weapons and cloaks using an EMP, Jordan states that he has a plan that Monty would be proud of.

Personality[]

Monty is incredibly smart, and this is something he prides himself on. He tries to use his intellect to help others and get him and his friends out of danger. He isn't a fan of violence and appears to prefer not to get involved with conflict. He keeps to himself most of the time and seems to also prefer more intimate conversations rather than putting himself in the center of attention like Jasper. He is also incredibly loyal and devoted to those he is close to and is always trying to help keep them safe. This can, at times, lead him to be very short-sighted in his decisions.

Monty is also shown to have a lot of wit, and can be very sarcastic. He will at times quip back at others, especially people he doesn't like or trust. And he has a very strong intuition and trusts his gut when it comes to certain situations (like when Clarke goes missing, and Monty has a strong feeling they're being lied to) and particular people (as shown in his disdain for Dr. Lorelei Tsing and the Mount Weather civilians, and Maya, initially). Despite this, Monty is usually a very likable guy and has forged friendships with many characters throughout the show.

Physical Appearance[]

Monty is a young male of East Asian descent. He has an oval face shape that is framed by his straight, black hair, tan skin with a golden undertone, and deep brown eyes with an epicanthic fold. He stands at 5'8 ½ (174 cm) and has a slim figure.

Throughout season one, he sports a gray and red hoodie that he sometimes wears a red jacket over. However, once taken in by Mount Weather, he begins to wear polo shirts that are usually sky blue. Sometime during the three months between seasons two and three, Monty joined the Arkadia Guard and began wearing the Guard's black uniform.

In Season 5, after the six year jump, Monty's black hair was significantly shorter: both sides had been shaved and the middle was short and spiked up. In his video logs, his hair started growing again over the years and becoming grayer. In his last message, Monty had long white hair.

Relationships[]

Jasper Jordan[]

Main article: Monty and Jasper
"Welcome back, buddy!"
- Monty greeting an awakened Jasper.[src]
Monty and Jasper are best friends. In Pilot, the two go with Clarke Griffin, Finn Collins and Octavia Blake in an attempt to reach Mount Weather. Throughout the trip, Monty and Jasper talk back and forth. When they all reach a river, Octavia goes swimming and is attacked by a river serpent, only to be saved by Jasper. Monty cheers him on. When Jasper swings on a vine to the other side of a river, he watches in horror as Jasper is impaled by a spear. In Earth Skills, he offers to go on the search to find Jasper, but Clarke tells him to stay behind. In Earth Kills, Monty watches over a sick Jasper with Octavia until the medicine is returned and helps Octavia keep Murphy from killing him. In Murphy's Law, Monty is happy to see Jasper awake and gives him a thumbs up when he is kissed by Octavia. They go through a bit of a rough patch in I Am Become Death when the delinquents begin to see Jasper as a hero for shooting down Grounders, but they make up later on.

Octavia Blake[]

Main article: Octavia and Monty
Monty and Octavia bond in the beginning of season one when they're both forced stick behind at camp. They both took care of Jasper after Clarke treats him and share the bottle of alcohol Finn, Clarke and Wells found. Octavia also helped Monty when he attempted to use her wristband to contact the Ark.

Clarke Griffin[]

Main article: Clarke and Monty

Clarke is good friends with Monty, and worked together with him to contact The Ark. Clarke admires Monty's technological skills. In season two, Monty run to Clarke and embraces her when they are finally reunited. He later shows deep concern and worry for Clarke after she secretly escaped from Mount Weather, and begins to worry that she may have been killed.

In "Nevermind," Clarke's mind conjures Monty to help convince her to fight and not give up. Monty's request for her to do better and for them to be the good guys motivates much of Clarke's actions in Season Six with Clarke going so far as to proclaim her plan in "Ashes to Ashes" to be "for Monty".

Finn Collins[]

While Finn's relationship with Monty is not emphasized on, Monty seems to admire Finn, especially his skills towards girls. Moreover, later, when Finn does not want to go find Jasper, Monty reproaches him saying that Jasper was looking up to him.

John Murphy[]

Main article: Monty and Murphy
"8 people alone in space for 5 years, and one of them's John Murphy. I should have drank the tea."
- Monty on spending years in space with Murphy[src]

The relationship between Monty and Murphy is often a contentious one, starting with Murphy's desire to kill Jasper Jordan. The two work together, though often reluctantly. In "Praimfaya," Monty sarcastically commented that he should've "drank the tea" rather than spend five years in space with Murphy, a reference to Jasper's drugged tea he used to kill himself, suggesting that Monty thought death was better than 5 years with Murphy in an enclosed space. However, after Murphy abandoned Monty to get the oxygen generator to the others, Monty hugged Murphy and commented that he might not hate him anymore, something that Murphy was visibly pleased with.

In Season Five, the two are shown to have a better relationship after six years together in space. In "Damocles (Part 2)," Monty refuses to abandon the injured Murphy to die and Murphy goes so far as to allow his friend to carry him rather than leave Emori behind. In his video diary, Monty comments that Murphy was his son's favorite in the stories, something that Monty finds surprising.

After learning of Monty's death in "Sanctum," Murphy is visibly devastated by his friend's loss.

In "A Sort of Homecoming," after learning that Hope Diyoza heard bad stories about him, Murphy teases Jordan on how he was Jordan's favorite from Monty's stories.

Nathan Miller[]

Main article: Monty and Miller
"Hey, you're a great thief."
- Monty complimenting Miller[src]
After teaming up to find a way out of Mount Weather, Monty and Miller grow closer as friends. They are often shown together in scenes, and often direct most of their lines to one another. Monty compliments Miller in Long Into an Abyss, assuring him that he is a great thief to which Miller chuckles softly. In Remember Me, they play a card game together before being joined by Jasper and Maya to find out where Harper is. Later that episode, he is shown to be upset when Monty goes missing, implying he's concerned for the other. He later stands beside Monty as they prepare to fight back against Dr. Tsing and the Mount Weather guards in Rubicon. Furthermore, in Resurrection, he assists Monty with the trash shoot.

Harper McIntyre[]

Main article: Monty and Harper
"Please, stop. She's too weak."
- Monty pleading for Dr. Tsing to let Harper go.[src]

In season one, Jasper briefly flirts with Harper while in one of the tents, and Monty scoffs, unimpressed. They don't share very many scenes together until season two where the small group of delinquents team up to find a way out of Mount Weather. She assists him in trying to break into Dante's office, and later, Monty begins to show deep concern for Harper when she disappears and tries to find out where she went. After Monty himself is taken captive, he pleads for Dr. Tsing to not perform the bone marrow treatment on her again for she is weak. After they are released, he tends to a weak and upset Harper, and sticks by her side when Dr. Tsing later returns to their bunks to retrieve delinquents.

In season three episode Red Sky at Morning he sleeps with Harper.

Kara Cooper[]

Monty and Kara Cooper seemed to know each from on the Ark. They bonded over Monty's plan to bring back the hydro farm in the Second Dawn Bunker. She also knew Hannah Green, Monty's mother.

-- in I Am Become Death
Monty Green (To Jasper): "I think you're cool, only no one had to die for me to see it."
-- in I Am Become Death
Jasper: "Last time was a fluke. I panicked!"
Monty Green: "So what? You still made the shot."
Jasper: "Twice."
-- in I Am Become Death

Monty Green: "Die."

Monty Green: "And a big ass hammer."
-- in Remember Me

Maya "Listen to me, Fox is ok. Bellamy saved her. He's gonna get some guns in here through the trash chute."
Jasper "If we can get guns in, we can get you out."
Monty Green "No, we can't. I dismantled the chute. I'm sorry, I didn't think we'd be trying to open it ourselves. I can fix it."
-- in Resurrection

Monty Green: "They're coming. 120 meters. 110. They're our people what are you doing?"
Bellamy "We hope they're our people."
-- in Wanheda (Part 1)
Monty Green "You were right about Jasper ok? Is that what you want me to say?"
Bellamy "Quiet. Keep your eyes peeled. I could've said no."
Monty Green: "He's getting worse, isn't he? I-I mean getting drunk every night is one thing but smiling with a knife to your throat? That's like double damage."
-- in Wanheda (Part 1)
Monty Green: "Who cares who it hurts? Yeah, whatever Jasper wants. Screw the rest of us, right?"
Jasper: "No. No, screw Clarke. You are both mass murderers as far as I’m concerned. I get why she did it and why Bellamy helped her, but you- Maya was your friend, she was- How is it that you can wipe out an entire civilization, yet I’m the one that can’t sleep at night? How-how can you just be fine?"
Monty Green: "I’m not fine! Just because I’m not drinking myself into a stupor every night doesn’t mean I’m not screwed up. But we had no other choice."
Jasper: "You hear that, Finn? He thinks he’s innocent. None of us is innocent."
Monty Green: "Float you! For three months I’ve watched you torture yourself and everyone around you – mostly me – but I’m done being your punching bag. Either you pull yourself together and you get on with your life or you fall apart alone."

Monty Green: "You want us to spy on our people?"

-- in Terms and Conditions
Monty Green: "Sinclair recruited me into engineering. He was my mentor, and now I just helped lock him up."
Hannah Green "You did the right thing."
Monty Green: "Yeah? I'm not so sure about that."
Hannah Green: "Monty, being down here, I've learned that if something helps you survive, it's always the right thing. Pike taught me that, taught all of us. It's what kept us alive. You do what it takes."
-- in Terms and Conditions
Hannah Green: "Your friends are traitors!"
Monty Green: "Then I guess I'm one too!"
-- in Stealing Fire
Monty Green: "Did you tell Pike?"
Hannah Green: "Monty, you're my son. I won't lose both of the men I love."
-- in Fallen
Monty Green: "My mom turned me in."
Bellamy Blake: "You're family, you'll work it out."
-- in Fallen
Monty Green: "I heard you tell Bellamy you're leaving. Is that true, after everything we've been through?"
Octavia Blake: "Yeah."
Monty Green: "Octavia, we're your people. We were sent down together we survive together."
Octavia Blake: "Lincoln was my people. I'm not Trikru, I'm not Skaikru, I'm nothing."
Monty Green: "You're one of the hundred."
Octavia Blake: "Not anymore."
-- in Nevermore
Monty Green: "Jasper. I know this world can suck. But at least it's real. We can get through this together."
Jasper: "You really believe that?"
Monty Green: "We will be happy again. Promise."
-- Perverse Instantiation (Part 2)

Monty Green: "Alpha Station survived for 97 years in space through elevated radiation levels and extreme temperature fluctuations. Sound familiar? All we have to do is patch up the ship. We're standing in our viable solution."
-- in Heavy Lies the Crown
Bryan: "Ok, Nate. This isn't your kill. This isn't your kill. This is Monty's kill."
Monty Green: "What are you talking about?"
Bryan: "This is the man that murdered your father." (Monty grabs Tybe's axe and stands over him)
Bellamy Blake: "You don't have to do this."
Monty Green: "Yeah. I do." (releases the slaves who beat Tybe to death)
-- in Heavy Lies the Crown
Riley: "I have a clear shot on the King.
Monty Green: "This is a tinder box. One shot, and we'll be at war. If you do this, it will be a massacre."
-- in The Tinder Box
Monty Green: "Or he's heading to that cave to execute the King of the people that made him a slave."
-- in The Tinder Box
Harper: "Wait. You'll never make it past that army. What are you doing?"
Monty Green: "Stopping a war."
-- in The Tinder Box
Monty Green: "8 people alone in space for 5 years, and one of them's John Murphy. I should have drank the tea."
-- in Praimfaya
John Murphy: "Of course he gets the hug."
Monty Green: "You chose the machine?"
John Murphy: "Yeah. I did. It's back at the lab which is where we need to --" (Monty suddenly hugs Murphy)
Monty Green: "I may not hate you anymore." (Murphy smiles)
Bellamy Blake: "Give it time. Come on. Hurry up. Let's go."
-- in Praimfaya

Monty Green (to group while discussing how they will survive): "Algae?"
John Murphy: "Uhh, float me now."
-- in Damocles (Part 2)
Monty Green: "Jordan is doing great, though. He's a happy kid. I, um, took a page from Clarke's parenting book. He knows all about you guys. Believe it or not, Murphy's his favorite."
Jordan Green (embarrassed) "It was a rebellious phase."
-- in Damocles (Part 2)
Monty Green: "If you're watching this kiddo... we love you so much. Did you follow my instructions? (Jordan nods) Well, assuming he did. Hey, Bellamy, hey, Clarke. We wanted him to wake you first so we could talk. Um, Earth... isn't coming back. You've been asleep for over 28 years and it's as dead as the day we left. I'm working on a Plan B, though. If you're awake, that means I found it. I'll see you again when I do."
Harper: "Wait. Not yet. Take care of our boy."
-- in Damocles (Part 2)
Monty Green: "Jordan... your mother died today. She was pretty sick the last few years. Clarke, you were right. Her dad's genetic condition finally got her. We had a good life. Sometimes... I know she wanted to be with you guys. Maybe I did too. But if we did that... I wouldn't be able to show you this. Son. (Jordan opens the bridge windows revealing another world) It took me 30 years, but I finally cracked the Eligius III mission file. Turns out it wasn't a mining mission. After sucking the Earth dry of oil, they went looking for another planet to tap."
Clarke Griffin: "Two suns?"
Monty Green: "I set the coordinates a week ago. If I'm right, you should get there in... 75 years. I'm tempted to put myself in cryo to see it, but without Harper... Anyway, it's in the Goldilocks Zone of a binary star system. But that's all I know. Eligius III never radioed back or, if they did, it was after Apocalypse One, so, no one heard it. Can you see it? Is it beautiful? It is in my dreams. I hope we do better there. I hope Jasper was wrong and we aren't the problem. I hope your lives there will be as happy as mine has been. Be the good guys. May we meet again."
Bellamy Blake and Clarke Griffin (crying): "May we meet again."
-- in Damocles (Part 2)

Monty Green (Clarke's hallucination): "You call this doing better? Giving up isn’t better."
-- in Nevermind
