Maya Vie was a recurring character in the second season. She was portrayed by cast member Eve Harlow and debuted in The 48.

Maya worked in the medical section of Mount Weather and also had ties to the Mount Weather decontamination unit. Her knowledge of the facility and willingness to help the Delinquents kept the majority of them safe and alive inside the mountain.

In the Blood Must Have Blood (Part 2), Maya was killed along with the rest of the Mountain Men after Clarke and Bellamy flush radiation throughout Mount Weather. Her death had a lasting impact on Jasper, causing him to become depressed and to hold grudges against Clarke, Bellamy, and Monty.

Early Life Edit

Maya was born on Earth, and lived with her father, Vincent Vie, in Mount Weather. When she was young, both her parents were part of a resistance movement within Mount Weather that refused the blood treatments from Grounders, resulting in her mother's death. After her mother's death, her father decided to continue accepting the blood treatments because Maya was too young to be left alone.

Maya worked in the Medical Ward of Mount Weather and also assisted with quarantine breaches and decontamination.

Throughout the Series Edit

In The 48, Maya is in a hazmat suit and is listening to music while she decontaminates and cleans Monty's old quarantine room. Her mask is ripped off by Clarke Griffin who had escaped her quarantine room by breaking a window and was now holding a shard of glass against Maya's throat. Clarke forces Maya to take her through Mount Weather to the mess hall where the residents of Mount Weather are eating. A woman looks over and sees Clarke holding the girl hostage and screams out there has been a containment breach, causing widespread panic with many covering their faces as they run from the dining hall. A group of Mount Weather Guards with full body suits and masks emerge with guns pointing towards her. A confused Clarke looks around at the chaos she's just caused and asks "where am I?". After Clarke is safely contained again, Maya and Clarke are re-introduced by Dante and Maya tells Clarke she won't press charges.

Later, Maya is sitting in the mess hall when Jasper Jordan approaches her. She offers him her chocolate cake as Clarke comes over to apologize for earlier before she leaves again. Maya quickly realizes that Clarke stole her access card and she and Jasper start to chase after Clarke. They finally reach Clarke at the main door to Mount Weather with her hand on the lever as she is about to open the door. Jasper and Maya beg her not to open it because if she does, all of the people inside the mountain will die from radiation exposure. While Jasper speaks to Clarke Maya gets a gun out of a security case and is prepared to kill Clarke if she opens the door. Jasper pleads with Clarke, telling her that she saved lives when she pulled the lever that fired the rockets and to not make a mistake by pulling this lever now. Mount Weather guards arrive and Clarke allows herself to be taken into custody.

In Inclement Weather, Maya brings Nathan Miller up to the Delinquents' dorm after he is released from Medical (his injuries from the battle with the Grounders required 3 surgeries). Jasper begins flirting with Maya again and they agree to meet up for breakfast just as an alarm goes off. Maya tells Clarke it is for someone needing medical attention and Clarke and Jasper follow her to Quarantine and see several of the surface patrol guards with multiple radiation burns.

In Reapercussions, Maya takes Jasper to a warehouse full of art and antiquities. There the two talk about art and are about to share a kiss when they are interrupted by lights and voices. Maya grabs Jasper's hand and the two run away. Monty Green approaches them and Maya leaves for breakfast. Later, Jasper and Monty discuss that they haven't seen Clarke for a while and don't think that she even slept in her bed the night before. Monty brings up that Clarke doesn't trust the Mountain Men and Jasper says he thinks they can trust Maya. They go to Maya and she tells them that Clarke had a breakdown and snapped and started pulling her stitches out so she was placed in the Psych Ward and is being monitored.

In Human Trials, Maya approaches Monty and Jasper in the Delinquents' dorm room as Monty packs to leave while Jasper tells Maya he's too scared to go after Clarke. Suddenly, Maya's face starts breaking out in radiation burns and an alarm sounds a containment breach. They get Maya into medical, however, 75% of her body is covered in radiation blisters and the standard treatment isn't working. Dr. Lorelei Tsing tells Jasper that in "theory" Sky People blood might heal Maya if they circulate Maya's blood through Jasper's system. Jasper agrees to it.

Later, Jasper is in a bed in Medical next to Maya. Monty asks if Jasper is sure he wants to do this just as Maya starts seizing. Dr. Tsing says they need to begin immediately and Jasper agrees. Maya's blood is then circulated through Jasper. As Jasper grows sleepy from the drugs in Maya's system, Dr. Tsing mentions it's "perfectly normal" which makes Monty ask how she knows that if she's never done it before. She clarifies that she meant it was "to be expected" and tries to send Monty away. Monty refuses to leave and takes a seat next to Jasper's bed. After the treatment, Maya awakens in the Medical ward and Dr. Tsing explains how Jasper saved her life. Dr. Tsing leaves to talk to Cage as Jasper begins to throw up from the treatment.

In Fog of War, Jasper is trying to convince the other Delinquents to volunteer to give blood to the Mountain Men but no one wants to. Monty tells Jasper that he's going after Clarke just as Maya enters. She starts talking to them about "pizza day" while holding up a pad of paper saying that, "they're listening," and to follow her. She takes Monty and Jasper to a storage room where it is private and tells them that she found out the radiation breach was not an accident. She then reveals to them the Harvest Chamber and that she is scared the Delinquents are going to be in next. She explains to them that without the treatments, everyone in the mountain would die. Monty thinks they should die. He also wants to try getting out like Clarke did but Maya says it won't be possible now since security has been increased. Jasper says that for now, they need to buy some time by volunteering.

In Long Into an Abyss, Jasper tells Nathan Miller not to worry about the security cameras when they break into Dante's office because Maya already disabled them.

In Remember Me, Maya and Jasper meet with the Delinquents in the dorms to discuss what might have happened to Harper McIntyre. Monty tells them he thinks he found a way to get a signal out of Mount Weather from the design schematics he stole from Dante Wallace's office. They create a plan to access the area Monty needs to get to in order to set up a radio signal. Later, Maya has gotten Jasper, Monty, and Miller to a storage area in Mount Weather that, according to Monty's schematics, will allow them access to the wires of the radio tower. They have to hammer a hole into the wall and Maya has them wait until a routine alarm goes off. Monty then sets up a looping transmission to get a message to Camp Jaha. He hears a jamming signal and realizes that Mount Weather he has heard the signal before during the Camp Jaha descent to Earth, and Mount Weather caused the ship to crash. Monty is unable to unjam the signal without being at the source and tells them that he needs is five minutes in the Command Center. Maya interrupts to warn them that there is a guard coming. Monty and Miller scatter while Maya and Jasper stay behind to cover the hole. As the guard approaches, Jasper kisses Maya to disguise their reason for being there and the guard kicks them out. Jasper and Maya return to the dorm and ask Miller if he has seen Monty.

In Coup de Grâce, in the mess hall of Mount Weather,Jasper and Maya are concerned because both Harper and now Monty have gone missing. Maya tells Jasper he has to make it look like everything is okay and to not do anything stupid. She leaves for the Medical Ward and starts looking through patient records as she tries to see any anomalies that might point to Monty's or Harper's whereabouts. Sgt. Lovejoy enters and asks her if she's seen Thorpe. Maya tells him he just left and as Lovejoy is on his way out the door, a patient's machine beeps, signaling her treatment is done. Lovejoy remarks that she has finished her treatment an hour early, and it was a new record. Maya tells Lovejoy that she thinks she saw Thorpe in the mess hall and Lovejoy leaves. Maya then rushes off to the Harvest Chamber where, instead of Monty or Harper, she finds Bellamy Blake hanging upside-down. She injects him with epinephrine to wake him up and asks him if he is from The Ark and if he knows Jasper. Bellamy asks her if her name is Maya and she says yes. She gets him down and starts pulling off the electrodes just as Lovejoy walks in and asks what she is doing in here. Maya lies and says she wanted to know what was so special about the subject but he is dead. Lovejoy checks the heart monitor without realizing Maya had already detached the wires from Bellamy and had started to get him down. Once Bellamy's feet are free, Bellamy kicks Lovejoy and Lovejoy pulls a gun on him. Maya stabs Lovejoy in the neck with a scalpel and Bellamy and Lovejoy begin fighting. Maya picks up the gun and tells Lovejoy to stop but Bellamy warns her not to use it because everyone else will hear the gunshot. Lovejoy is gaining the upper hand when Echo reaches out of her cage and grabs hold of his arm to prevent him from stabbing Bellamy with the scalpel that was in his neck. Bellamy then strangles Lovejoy, killing him. He thanks Echo for her help and asks Maya if she is all right. At first, Maya is traumatized but then she resolves herself and tells Bellamy she is fine. Bellamy dumps Lovejoy's body in the Containment chute and changes into his uniform. He pushes the button to send Lovejoy's body down into the |Reaper tunnels. Bellamy tells Maya she has done enough and should walk away. Maya says, "I'm in," and hands Bellamy Lovejoy's gun and badge. She tells him she can take him to the radio and that Monty and Harper have already gone missing. Bellamy says he wants to see the other Delinquents first. Maya explains that everyone knows everyone else as she removes Lovejoy's name-tag and gives Bellamy a hat. As she cuts out Bellamy's tracking device, she asks him how he knew her name. Bellamy tells her that Clarke told him how Jasper, "couldn't stop talking about someone named Maya." She tells him to put the tracking device in his cage. As he does so, he promises Echo that he will be back.

Maya leads Bellamy through Mount Weather to an elevator, pointing out cameras and telling him how to get around. As they get on the elevator, another resident gets on with them and chats with Maya. The elevator stops and two more people get on. The elevator stops again and Maya gestures for Bellamy to exit behind the other two people. The man on the elevator notices that there is blood on Bellamy's collar. Maya claims he must have been exposed and steals the man's handkerchief to hold against Bellamy's face as she kicks the other man out of the elevator to do her job of tracing down the alleged radiation leak. Maya and Bellamy continue heading toward the dorm when they come across a group of Mount Weather preschoolers. One of them walks up to Bellamy and asks him if he is on a ground unit because his father is training to be on a ground unit. As the boy leaves, his backpack reveals the last name, "Lovejoy." Bellamy finally realizes that the mountain is not just full of Mountain Men Guard but also civilians. Just as Bellamy and Maya approach the dorm, an alarm is heard and the doors to the dorm close, sealing the Delinquents in. Jasper sees Bellamy and Maya on the other side of the door as Bellamy tells Maya to get him to the radio. Once to the radio, Bellamy calls into Camp Jaha, asking if anyone can hear him. Clarke picks up the radio and Bellamy tells her that the Delinquents have been locked up and that things are going to get ugly. He tells her that they need a plan that doesn't kill everyone because there are kids in there. Clarke tells Bellamy that he needs to turn off the Acid Fog and free the imprisoned Grounders. Bellamy asks Clarke to buy him some time so they won't discover him inside the mountain just yet.

In Rubicon, Maya and Bellamy call in on the radio to Camp Jaha about the Delinquents going missing. Maya has borrowed the schematics for the vent system within Mount Weather from her boss to help Bellamy get around. She also configured a portable radio for Bellamy so he can talk to Raven Reyes and Clarke anywhere.

In Resurrection, after Bellamy saves Fox from being harvested, Maya joins them and tells Bellamy they need to get Fox someplace safe. She takes them to her home where her father, Vincent Vie is sleeping on the couch. He tells Maya what she is doing is dangerous and Maya tells him that it is what her mother would have done. Her parents were part of a movement that refused the blood treatments. Her mom refused the treatment and died for her beliefs. Vincent agrees to let them stay for one night and Bellamy thanks him. Vincent warns Bellamy that the Mountain Men will never stop. Maya then takes Bellamy through Mount Weather as she tells him to get the guns and she'll worry about getting them to the Mess Hall on Level 5. Bellamy tells Maya that she is a "natural-born revolutionary," and she replies she is just trying to do what is right. Bellamy takes off to get the guns and Maya turns around to see Cage Wallace and Carl Emerson approach. Cage tells her they were just looking for her.

In the Mess Hall, the Delinquents are cleaning up the bodies of the guards they killed and taking their equipment when one of the radios goes off and Cage starts talking. Monty holds up the monitor to the hall cameras to show Maya in a hazmat suit being forced down the hall by guns as Cage tells them she only has 20 minutes of oxygen in her suit so Jasper has only 20 minutes save her by surrendering. Once Maya reaches the Delinquents, she tells Jasper that Fox is okay and that Bellamy is going to get some guns in through the trash chute. Monty apologizes because he dismantled the chute but he thinks he can fix it. Jasper tells Maya he won't let her die and she tells him she won't let him surrender. As Maya is down to her last minute of air, Monty starts to frantically try to get the trash chute open. He eventually gives up and yanks the wires out to cut power and turn the chute to manual. Miller helps him pull on the trash cute as they hear Bellamy come banging through. He tells them to give him Maya and takes her down the chute with him. Jasper follows after and they get her mask off in time. The door at the end of the chute opens and her dad appears. Bellamy and Jasper hug as Bellamy tells Jasper that Clarke is coming with an army full of Grounders. Jasper asks if that means Finn Collins finally got his peace talks and Bellamy replies, "something like that." Later, Bellamy is leading the Delinquents through Mount Weather. He tells them they need to split up. Monty is against the idea and Miller asks who would help them. Bellamy takes them around a corner to reveal Maya and Vincent with a group of Mount Weather residents who are willing to help the Delinquents. Bellamy tells them to "stay alive. Be ready to fight. War is coming."

In Bodyguard of Lies, Bellamy asks Vincent about Maya and the Delinquents. Vincent tells him they have been moved to already searched areas because Cage has gone public with what happened on Level 5.

In Blood Must Have Blood (Part 1) there is a knocking at the door of Mr. and Mrs. Peters who are currently hiding Jasper and Maya. Paul Tilling and another Mount Weather Guard enter and begin looking around and questioning them about the missing Delinquents. Mrs. Peters sets down her teacup and Tilling notices two extra cup rings on the table. He pulls out his gun and shoves Mr. Peters onto the couch next to Mrs. Peters. He tells them they have five seconds to cooperate and begins counting down. Jasper breaks free from his hiding spot in a hole behind a painting on the wall and begs Tilling not to shoot them. Tilling puts a bullet into Mr. and Mrs. Peters' foreheads as the other guard handcuffs Maya and Jasper.

Tilling and the other guard soon also capture Fox and Miller. They are stopped by Vincent Vie who begs Tilling to let his daughter go. Tilling tells Vincent to step aside and raises his gun at him. As Tilling steps closer to take the shot, he is suddenly shot in the head from the right side. Tilling falls dead as Vincent runs over to the air vent and pries it open, revealing Bellamy Blake, while Miller takes down the other guard and bashes his head against the wall. Bellamy tells them to go with Vincent to the Harvest Chamber where they will be safe. Jasper and Maya decide to go with Bellamy to rescue Monty and the other Delinquents. Maya gives a hug to her father in goodbye.

As they are looking for the last 12 Delinquents an announcement is heard telling all Mount Weather residents that they have 30 minutes to get to Level 5 for quarantine lock-down. Maya realizes she is in trouble because she cannot go to Level 5 without being shot. They hear a gunshot and rush toward it, waiting until the Mount Weather Guards are gone. They find Mrs. Ryan, the woman who was hiding the last twelve, dead. Jasper wants to go to Level 5 but Bellamy doesn't think that it is a good idea. Monty comes out and tells them he hid and had to let them kill Mrs. Ryan because he overheard that the Mountain Men know about Echo's Grounder army and are going for the Harvest Chamber. Bellamy, Maya, Jasper, and Monty then head to the Harvest Chamber. Maya discovers her dad, shot dead in the middle of the floor while Bellamy discovers every single one of the cages empty.

In Blood Must Have Blood (Part 2), down in the mines underneath Mount Weather, Clarke and Octavia Blake are standing outside the intake door when it open and Bellamy appears with Monty, Jasper, and Maya (in a hazmat suit) and everybody hugs. Clarke asks Bellamy if he has a plan and he tells her, no, but they can speak to Dante Wallace. Maya's oxygen tank beeps, warning her she is running low on oxygen. They split up with Bellamy, Clarke, and Monty going after Dante and Octavia going with Jasper and Maya to get her to Level 5 before she runs out of oxygen. Jasper, Maya, and Octavia arrive on Level 5 just as Maya's oxygen runs out. Jasper tells them he needs to kill Cage Wallace in order for Maya to be able to survive. Maya soon returns with Lee to where Jasper and Octavia are waiting. Octavia gives Jasper a knife and explains to him how to cut Cage's throat. Jasper and Maya kiss goodbye and Jasper tells her he loves her. He then leaves with Lee to go after Cage.

Octavia and Maya sit and wait for the all clear. They are soon interrupted by a kissing couple who run away and alert the Mount Weather Guards. Octavia chases after them and takes out two Mount Weather Guards with her sword and newly learned grounder moves. From the Command Center monitors, Bellamy sees their predicament just as Emerson arrives outside the Command Center door. At the same time, Lee is walking Jasper into the dorm while Octavia and Maya are chased into the Mess Hall and are quickly surrounded by more Mount Weather Guards. Monty finishes the settings to irradiate Level 5 as Emerson gets ready to blow the door to the Command Center. Bellamy watches as Octavia and Maya are caught in the Mess Hall. Clarke reaches for the lever and Bellamy places his hand on top of hers, saying, "together," and they pull the lever. The Mount Weather residents begin to succumb to the radiation. Emerson realizes what they have done and takes off running. Octavia sits with Maya until Jasper runs over. Maya tells Jasper, "none of us is innocent." Jasper cradles a dead Maya asking what they had done and asks Monty how he could have let it happen.

Notes and Trivia Edit

  • She might be loosely based on Sasha, the daughter of the president of Mount Weather in the books.
  • In The 48, Maya said she had a Vitamin D treatment. Vitamin D is necessary for normal bone density and is naturally created by the skin when exposed to the sun.
  • In Reapercussions, Maya shows Jasper her favorite painting, William Blake's The Lovers' Whirlwind, which illustrates the second level of Hell from Dante's Inferno.
  • Maya's mother was part of a movement to stop Mount Weather from kidnapping Grounders. She died of radiation exposure due to refusing the treatments of Grounder blood.
