How does the chancellor vote!
— Senior Council Member to Jaha

Cole, Kaplan, Muir, and Fuji were recurring characters in the first season. They were portrayed by cast members Freda Perry, Catherine Lough-Haggquist, Sharon Taylor, Hiro Kanagawa, and Bill Marchant and debuted in "Earth Skills".

Cole, Kaplan, Muir, and Fuji were four of the council members during the first season. The other three members were Thelonious Jaha, Marcus Kane, and Abby Griffin (who was later replaced by Diana Sydney). The four were killed during the Unity Day Bombing.

While the four councilors were named in "Unity Day", the credits only listed them as "Council Member #1", "Council Member #2", "Council Member #3", and "Senior Council Member", thus there is no way to put name to face.

Early life[]

They were born on the Ark and at some point became a council members.

Throughout the Series[]

In Earth Skills, Abby Griffin walks into the cafeteria to see Marcus Kane lobbying for votes for the culling. He speaks with the Senior Council Member, Council Member #1, and Council Member #2.

Later the council meets. When Marcus Kane says that they should vote on the culling now, Council Member #1 seconds the motion. The Senior Council Member leads the proceedings and summarizes what they are voting on. Kane, Senior Council Member, and Council Member #1 vote in favor of the culling while Abby, Council Member #2, and Council Member #3 vote against. Senior Council Member then asks Thelonious Jaha, the Chancellor, to vote to break the tie, but Jaha chooses to abstain. Senior Council Member tries to convince Jaha to vote but Jaha refuses frustrating those in favor of the culling.

In Twilight's Last Gleaming, Senior Council Member informs Marcus Kane that the people of the Ark are sending someone in to talk about the culling.

In Contents Under Pressure, the Council meets regarding Abby Griffin's crimes. Abby is told that even though she had broken laws and should be floated, they need her medical expertise too badly so she's received a stay of execution. According to Jaha, the Council vote was nearly unanimous. However, Abby is stripped of her council position. Then, they hear Raven calling over the Ark-wide channel and the meeting breaks apart.

In Day Trip, the Council meets to have video discussion with Clarke Griffin.

In Unity Day, the councilors attend the Unity Day pageant. Council Member #1, #2, and #3 can be seen standing behind Jaha during his remarks. Midway through the pageant, a bomb goes off and it kills Councilors Cole, Kaplan, Muir, and Fuji. Later it is revealed that the bomb was planned by fellow council member Diana Sydney (who replaced Abby on the Council).

Physical Appearance[]

Senior Council Member had grey-white hair and a beard. He appeared to be in his 60's.
